Dr. Sand grew up in Lisbon, ND. After graduating from Lisbon High School she attended NDSU receiving a Bachelor of Animal Science. She completed her learning at Kansas State Univeristy College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2015. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Mike, and their two dogs Ruben and Rose. They also have a cat named Sven, an appaloosa horse, Dream, and a small herd of commercial black Angus. Dr. Sand's favorite animal to work on is cattle but she enjoys the variety that rural mixed practice has to offer.

When asked why she chose to join the veterinary profession Dr. Sand said "I knew I wanted to live in Lisbon, work outside, and work with cattle. Veterinary medicine gave me the perfect outlet."
